How to impact society through your law degree

There is no dearth of law colleges in Bangalore. However, it does become tough to find a good one that fits the bill and is guaranteed to make you ready for employment. All private law colleges in Bangalore are ranked as per their fee structure, the placement records and a few other parameters, very few of which take into account the curriculum or the teaching methodology.

Any graduate of law needs to have a robust understanding of the social sciences as law has a strong connection with it. The socio-economic and political will of the state is expressed through the legal instrument. The effectiveness of the legal system has a clear and direct impact on society. The Alliance School of Law trains its students to have sound knowledge of social sciences to use the legal instrument as a platform for social change.

They do this through a rigorous five-year course that trains students in sociology, economics, political science, English and the legal dealings through a range of subjects. Their curriculum not only trains students for the domestic but also for the international markets through comparative elements that focus on law through a range of compulsory and elective subjects. This commitment to providing world-class learning is seen in the pedagogy where students learn not only how to practice law but also the key constituents of governance.

In addition to the subject knowledge on substantive and procedural law, the graduates are provided hands-on lawyering skills. These are in the form of training activities, mock court sessions, legal programs and are then cross-examined to gauge their knowledge gain. Their students are also provided opportunities to boost up their research and writing skills through such programs.

Unlike other private law colleges in Bangalore, this course is not for the faint of heart as each semester except the last two have six subjects each, while the last two have five each. In the fourth semester, students may select specialization in sociology, political sciences or economics. They are also encouraged to pursue a specialisation in either management or finance and they may also opt for mass communication instead of any of the aforementioned specializations. This wide variety of knowledge is required to prepare them holistically for the field of law that none of the other law colleges in Bangalore provide.

How to find a place that provides more than just one type of knowledge

Universities who are quoted to be the best MBA colleges in India only focus on one subject at a time. For instance a college where one can take admission in btech in computer science and engineering may get a few more of the engineering subjects but not any other streams of knowledge. Such a blend of students within the same campus is a rare find that provides the students with an array of life experiences useful later on in their life. For instance when a law student would be worried about the end of week test, another student from say business will be planning a project where they need help from an engineer. This cross stream knowledge and help would help students once they reach the corporate world where such various experiences will help. This blend of studies is seen at only a few places like at the Alliance University where at the Alliance College of Engineering and Design one can learn about the core subjects of Computer Science and Engineering.
